Janus: Automatic Ontology Construction Tool

چکیده
The construction of an ontology for a large domain still remains an hard human task. The process is sometimes assisted by software tools that facilitate some parts of the construction and evolution life-cycle. But they do not propose a methodology that considers the automation of the entire process. In this paper we present a method for deriving automatically an ontology. Then, we introduce Janus, an implementation of this approach, for deriving automatically a skeleton of an ontology from XML schema files in a given domain. Janus also provides different useful views that can be used for a final revision by an expert.

Janus: Automatic Ontology Builder from XSD Files
The construction of a reference ontology for a large domain still remains an hard human task. The process is sometimes assisted by software tools that facilitate the information extraction from a textual corpus. Despite of the great use of XML Schema files on the internet and especially in the B2B domain, tools that offer a complete semantic analysis of XML schemas are really rare. In this pape...
متن کاملB2b Automatic Taxonomy Construction
The B2B domain has already been subject to several research experiences, but we believe that the real advantage of introducing semantic technologies within enterprise application integration has not yet been investigated fully. In this paper we provide a new use case for the next generation Semantic Web applications with regards to enterprise application integration. We also present the results...
متن کاملDeriving Ontogies from XML Schema
In this paper, we present a method and a tool for deriving a skeleton of an ontology from XML schema files. We first recall what an is ontology and its relationships with XML schemas. Next, we focus on ontology building methodology and associated tool requirements. Then, we introduce Janus, a tool for building an ontology from various XML schemas in a given domain. We summarize the main feature...
متن کاملSemantic technologies and e-business
In this chapter, we study what semantic technologies can bring to the e-business domain and how they can be applied to it. After an overview of the goals to be achieved by e-business applications we detail a large panel of existing e-business standards, with a specific focus on B2B (Business to Business) and their current modus operandi. Furthermore we also present some of the most relevant e-b...
متن کاملCAOS-A Tool for the Construction of Terminological Ontologies
This paper presents some principles of terminological ontologies implemented in the prototype that has been developed in the research project CAOS Computer-Aided Ontology Structuring. Furthermore some issues, that have to be faced to further develop facilities for automatic consistency checking and automatic changes to ontologies, are discussed. The presentation will illustrate central faciliti...
